I am an academic at King’s College London (KCL), with previous appointments at University of Manchester and University of Cambridge.
I am also the Deputy Director of KCL-SOAS London Asia-Pacific Centre for Social Sciences.
I am interested in the question of how societies prosper, and therefore study capitalism, democracy and development in the emerging and emerged worlds of East Asia. In particular, using the multi-disciplinary lens of economic sociology and political economy, I explore the role of large businesses as both vehicles of industrial growth and instruments of distribution for inclusive (equitable) development.
